MaterDea was born out of the collaboration between Simon Papa and Marco Strega, two musicians with a different artistic background, sharing the same passion for the dreamy atmospheres of Celtic music. In their songs the flavour of natural elementals, marvellous creatures and fantastic stories carry the listener to a surreal dimension in which he gets in contact with the ancient cult of the Great Mother.
In 2011, aside of producing the new record “Satyricon” (Midsummer's Eve - 2011), released in Oct. 1011, MaterDea had the opportunity to participate in important international festivals like Pipes and Drums Celtic Festival in Geneve, (Switzerland), Fosch Fest in Bergamo (Italy), Triskell Festival in Trieste (Italy) and Tarvisium Celtica in Treviso (Italy).
With the pieces “Another Trip to Skye” and “Fairy of the Moor” , MaterDea was placed at the first positions in international podcasts like: Celtic Radio (Scotland) – Radio Aena (Germany) – ImRadio (Illinoise) – Irfc Radio (Ireland) – Pagan Fm (England) - Radio Schlag-Fertig (Germany) – Underground City Radio (Belgium) – Kzum Radio (Nebraska) – All Irish Radio (Ireland) – Radio Zygomar (France) – Power of Prog (Florida) and at the beginning of 2010 MaterDea has been posted as “Spotlight Artist” during one month on Pagan Radio Network (California).
